Ellen DeGeneres quits American Idol

It seems to be going from bad to worse.

We all knew Simon was quitting American Idol, but now the next star judge has jumped off the panel.

Ellen, who signed a five year contract with American Idol, said:

“A couple months ago, I let Fox and the American Idol producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me.”

So there are now two holes to be filled.

Jennifer Lopez is being tipped to replace Ellen, whereas a bunch of names are still being thrown around to replace Simon.

Will it be Justin Timberlake, Harry Connick Jr or even Piers Morgan?

Who would you like to see sipping water in Coca Cola cups in the hot seats?

Kanye West debuts his material for Facebook

Kanye West is a popstar, but he also makes interesting decisions about his career.

Kanye decided to take a visit to Facebook HQ to debut his new material for his next album.

Wearing a body hugging grey suit Kanye performed lyrics for the employees at FB including a capella version of ‘Lost in the World/Chain Gang’ (below) and ‘Mama’s Boyfriend’.

Kanye wrote on his blog:

To all my friends at Facebook,

Many times in life I’ve had to deal with moments of doubt. And as it’s been a minute since I’ve performed any fresh material in front of an audience, this could’ve been one of those moments… but it wasn’t. Your energy was a gift so electric, so genuine, that it really helped me give my best. The energy was so inspiring I had to keep going!

I just hope you got as much from me as I got from you…which was everything!

Chris Moyles and Tom Jones become drinking buddies

Chris Moyles made a new friend today on his radio show.

The Radio 1 breakfast DJ was interviewing Welsh legend, Sir Tom Jones and the pair hit it off.

The two of them have arranged to go for pub drinks today at midday.

You can expect the Leeds born DJ and the Welsh born superstar will get few quite a few ‘jars’ today.

There will be some sore heads in the morning!

The ‘Superstar‘ popstar signed the deal live on the internet for her fans to watch.

Jamelia said it was a “very exciting day for me” and added that she “wanted to share it with my fans”.

She is expected to release a new album later in the year.

There’s no place like home

Tom Felton spent the last decade travelling around the world promoting Harry Potter. And when he isn’t promoting the movie, he is usually filming the movie.

So when Harry Potter’s Draco Malfoy gets a bit of time off, you’re not going to find him falling out of Cafe De Paris with the cast of Hollyoaks, or eating uncooked fish from Nobu.

Instead Felton loves nothing more than being at home:

“Today’s gonna be a good day. Feels great to be home and walking timber. Happy days x”

Tom has recently signed a deal with indie label Six String Productions, so we may have to wait until he releases a new album before the rock and roll lifestyle kicks in!

The Saturdays secure documentary deal with ITV2

The Saturdays have announced that they are filming their own documentary for ITV2.

‘The Saturdays: 24/7′ will be a four part documentary following the five girls around.

Rochelle Wiseman announced:

“I am pleased to tell you guys we are filming our own documentary series for ITV2!! Showing from the end of August, Thursdays at 9 x”

The Saturdays are not the only pop group in recent days to secure a documentary with ITV2. Simon Cowell secured a deal for Olly Murs to have his life made into a documentary to help promote his new album coming out later in the year.

Amanda Bynes announced that she is ‘unretired’ one month after retirement!

American actress Amanda Bynes a few months ago announced that she was retiring from the acting game.

However only one month later she has announced that her retirement is over, she tweeted: ‘i’ve unretired’.

She must be the Queen of indecision, or maybe she realized she does prefer it when the money is rolling in!

Hugh Laurie follows in the footsteps of some unlikely people….

Hugh Laurie has signed a record deal this week to release a New Orleans Blues album with a range of guest musicians this summer.

Self taught muscian Laurie has said:

“I am drunk with excitement at this opportunity.

“I know the history of actors making music is a chequered one, but I promise no one will get hurt. I am particularly thrilled to be working with Joe Henry, who has produced some of my favourite records of all time, and I can’t wait to get started.”

The history of actors making music is not ‘chequered‘, it’s downright worrying!
